Ken Loach’s "lost" films + a retrospective in Autumn 2025

Friday 5 September 2025

A full season dedicated to the decades-long career of the illustrious filmmaker is kicking off on 26 September at the Garden Cinema.

Amongst the many highlights, audiences will be treated to a screening of little if ever-screened works, censored, suppressed, or generally archived for political reasons. Films that denounce government repression, media complicity, and NGO overreach will be shown alongside an hour-long discussion with Mr Loach himself. Classics will be introduced or followed by Q&As with experts, actors, activitists, including Land and Freedom, Kes, Riff Raff, Cathy Come Home, and others. A screening of the Palme d’Or winner The Wind That Shakes the Barley will act as a fundraiser for the Jenin Cultural Centre, in honour of Ken Loach’s longstanding commitment to Palestinian rights and freedom.
