Podcast - Interview with Andrey Gryazev - London Film Fest 2012

Tuesday 6 November 2012, by Abla Kandalaft

Director Andrey Gryazev’s underground hit Tomorrow was screened at the BFI London Film Festival.

Embedding himself in the Russian performance art / activist collective known as "Voina" (war in Russian), Gryazev charts the controversial group’s ideology and activities.

The film, directed and produced on a microbudget of under $2000, documents fly-on-the-wall style Voina’s latest protest, which involved overturning a police car.
Gryazev sees himself first and foremost as an artist. The film is beautifully shot and he deftly allows his audience to formulate their own opinion of the group’s actions, some of which involve what seems to be gratuitous intimidation.
