The film, partly funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was released in cinemas on 20 June 2016, to coincide with World Refugee Day. Short of the Week - GIRL.LONDON.NIGHT - Filmic Pro Winner
3 July 2016, by Abla KandalaftThis week’s short comes to us courtesy of film collective Reframed, whose eerily beautiful GIRL.LONDON.NIGHT, written by and starring Reframed member Claire Gordon-Webster, has just won the Best Female Filmmaker award at the Filmic Pro Tangerine Dreams Contest competition. The contest, now in its second year and named after feature film Tangerine, that was shot entirely on an iPhone, requires participants to make a short film using the FiLMiC Pro phone app. -

This week’s pick is Marc Hardman’s Mother, starring Jumaan Short & Miriam Margolyes, a moving, well-paced 10 minute drama. The film is one of many entries in this year’s Women’s Voices Now festival. The winner of the 2015 100 Hour Film Race, Remnants is a simple, yet effective short film addressing issues of mental health and male suicide, through which are subtly weaved that year’s specific requirements.
